Omics has opened the door to new life science and we're faced with the most complicated scientific problem ever. Collaborations between major institutions and platform vendors have achieved the great progress during the last decade. Thanks to their efforts of developing new technologies, now we can easily generate, or even download, a very large omics data set. But still it's very hard to make fully use of the data, simply because we don't know how to analyze the data nor how to extract meanings from the data. Now it's time for competition of interpretation.
At this time, big-budget, big-facilities, big-computer are still advantageous, but no more essential. We think the key will be a new way of thinking, no matter how it seems to be illogical and non-sense at first. Only human can strike on new ideas by jumping between ideas and associating distant and controversial concepts. Interaction of individual new ideas within open discussions and crossover collaborations deepens insight to create a new concept. Then new concepts undergo try-and-errors to give birth to a critical innovation. To make the movement be really powerful, it should not be closed to top researchers in core labs.
We decided to make a company to provide products and services at the lowest price ever. It's not only the lowest, but also as low as young researchers, even students, all around the world can afford. Subio will work to make omics open to all researchers.
