Omics has opened the door to new life science and you're facing one of the most complicated scientific problems. Collaborations of academia and technology vendors have achieved the great progress during the last decade. Thanks to enormous efforts, now you can easily make, or even freely download, very large omics data sets. But still it's terribly hard to take biological meanings out, simply because you don't know how to handle and translate them. Now it's time for a competition of data mining.
At this time, big-budget, big-facilities and big-computer are still advantageous, but no more essential. We think the key is new idea, no matter how it sounds a non-sense or illogical idea at first. It’s not computer but human brain which only can bring innovation from associating distant, and sometimes conflicting, concepts. To turn human creativity on, it’s obviously important to have open discussions by mixed people, and to unprejudicedly examine a variety of ideas. It’s unavoidable for new biology to weigh heavily on IT and statistics because data size is swelling up with the new sequencing technologies. But specialists in leading core labs are not enough to challenge the complexity of omics. We believe that contributions of more and more wet researchers in ordinary labs are needed for a balanced progress of the new life science.
This is why we made the company named after “sub + bio”, to create the most user-friendly software to bridge people in wet and dry sides regardless of bioinformatics skill, to provide products and services at the lowest price ever so that young researchers, even students, can afford, and to make omics open to all researchers in the world.
